Rest and Surrender

Welcome to my first blog post.
These posts will serve as a deeper look into the meaning behind some of my artworks.
Today’s theme is rest. I have selected a few pieces that were born from my need to pause and surrender.

Grounded shows me seeking calm in nature, with even my locs touching the grass as I try to connect with the earth and settle my thoughts.

Still shows the subject in a yoga pose, floating on water to reflect quiet within the mind and the peace that comes when we finally let go.

Surrender (Breathe) marks a shift into a more abstract space. The red sphere represents burden and the subject rests on it, no longer carrying the weight alone. She exhales. The word “breathe” reminds both her and the viewer to release tension and trust the moment.
Here is a poem I wrote that captures this same struggle to rest:
Today I needed to rest,
The body says yes,
but no says my mind.
Constant chitter chatter, it just won’t comply.
I worry so need to Plan A, B and C.
I cannot just wait and see.
I need to prepare for every eventuality.
My thoughts are so exhausting to me.
I need to slow down, just breathe and be.
Breathe… breathe… out and in, just breathe.
Quiet and still the thoughts within.
Art is one of the ways I find ease when life becomes too much. What helps you relax and reconnect with yourself?

This is a beautiful collection of a contemporary art! I can see this on a huge open corridor wall wall. It has a soul and it’s so unique…. The poem definitely gives us a glimpse into the artist’s mind.
Wow these are so beautiful and powerful. You are so very artistic and talented! 🩷
These pieces are so inspiring and show a deep level of creativity. They serve as a reminder that we all need to rest and pause at times because life can be ‘heavy’. I also like how the locks capture this and help to illustrate the artist’s ’calm space’.
I love this art work! Very unique and creative, never seen anything more brilliant.🤩❤️🩹❤️💛
These pieces are so beautiful. They just make me want to relax. It's the locs that tell the story for me and the way they fall. But, the way you captured the body in breathe is amazing, completely surrender and let go that's what I'll be working on!
